Fix: Firstly, check that the mainboard does export a NUMA table for the operating system and that this functionality is enabled. Then check that the operating system has NUMA support (e.g. Windows XP/2003 and later) and that the correct kernel has been installed.
NB. NUMA is especially important for CPUs that have built-in memory controllers (e.g. AMD Opteron), this works out at one node per CPU. As the memory is local to each CPU, it is important that programs and the operating system allocate the memory on the proper CPU for best performance.
